Hyalite Canyon Ice

Some photos from a recent trip ice climbing outside of Bozeman, Montana, USA.

Big sky

They call Montana the land of the “big sky”, but that’s a bit less true when you’re spending all of your visit inside a canyon.

It is true in Wyoming on the 10-hour drive in 😪

Unnamed wall, Hyalite Canyon

Hyalite canyon is absolutely spilling over with ice. Here we see the “Unnamed Wall”, which in Colorado would certainly have a name, plus also about forty or fifty people climbing on any given day.

Visible are the climbs “the fat one”, “the thin one”, “the thrill is gone”, “bingo pillar”, “the good looking one”, “Jeff’s left” and “Jeff’s right”. Maybe some other stuff. Idk.

Again, on the Front Range of Colorado, we drive two hours to find one flow of this quality.

Our weather is a lot nicer tho, so…. 🤷‍♂️🤷🤷‍♀️
